Embracing the Elements: Rain on Your Wedding Day. Truly one of the most inspirational weddings I have had the pleasure to photograph was the wedding of Matt and Traci at the stunning Riversong Inn Retreat. When I arrived at the venue, the skies opened up, and it started to rain, but this incredible bride and groom remained in the highest of spirits. We quickly touched base on their must-have wedding photos and mutually decided the best approach was to embrace the weather and run with it. As an Estes Park, Colorado wedding photographer, there is nothing better than a couple who trusts the vision; we creatively used clear umbrellas to coordinate a seamless first look and safely capture the bridal party photos without missing a beat. This flexibility allowed us to turn unexpected rainy-day logistics into a backdrop for truly unique, breathtaking portraits.

The incredible teamwork at this Estes Park celebration truly saved the day. Some early guests and the dedicated retreat staff jumped right into action, using napkins from the venue to wipe down the outdoor ceremony chairs. The venue staff also provided extra umbrellas for the guests and bridal party, even offering up a tent backup in case a heavy downpour started. Fortunately, shortly after the rest of the guests arrived, the rain turned into light sprinkles. The music cued up, and a beautiful moment unfolded as Traci was led by her son down the path to the river's edge for the ceremony. In a moment that felt like pure movie magic, the wedding officiant looked up while speaking about this chosen day, and the rain completely lifted. The sincere smiles, the breakthrough of the sun, and the look between Matt and Traci as they exchanged vows and rings by the rushing water were truly unforgettable.
